Sława Lake District

About the region

The area of operation of the Local Action Group “Kraina Lasów i Jezior” is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Lubusz Voivodeship. This is mainly due to the vast forests enjoyed by hiking enthusiasts and mushroom hunters, and the water reservoirs, including the largest one in the region, Lake Sławskie, which make for a very diverse local landscape.

Another important factor increasing the attractiveness of the local communes are the numerous historical sites and monuments, including the Carolath Castle in Siedlisko - as you drive through the village, you cannot miss the picturesque ruins on a steep slope overlooking the Oder river. Next to the park, there is a landscape park established in the 18th and 19th Century. Other attractions of Siedlisko include the historic church with the funeral chapel of Duchess Wanda from the beginning of the 19th Century. Other historical places of worship can be found mainly in the communes of Wschowa, Szlichtyngowa and Kotla.

If you are in the area, make sure to stop by in the picturesque town of Sława, if only to take a walk through the beautiful landscape park established in 1854, one of the largest in the Lubusz Voivodeship, stretching along the shores of Lake Sławskie. The park has plenty of monumental trees and the largest ivy habitat in Western Poland.

Another major attraction of the region is the scenic Oder river, which offers various angling and kayaking competitions, boat cruises and many more. The Oder attracts nature enthusiasts, offering excellent bird- and animal-spotting all year round.

Numerous tourist routes, and cycling and hiking trails provide first-hand experience of the beauty and charm of the region. With EU funding, the area of the Local Action Group has gained a number of pleasant recreational facilities and children’s playgrounds. The region offers beautiful landscapes, excellent local products and unique climate.
