St Hubertus Shrine

The shrine was built by the “Bór” hunting association in Słubice (Rzepin Forest Inspectorate) in Autumn 2012. St Hubertus (whose name means “famous for his wits”) is the patron saint of hunters, foresters, butchers and furriers, believed to have been a missionary and a bishop who lived in the 7th Century. His path toward sainthood was an uneasy one, however. He entered it only after he had converted to Christianity after seeing a burning cross between a deer’s antlers during a hunt.
