Built around mid-13th Century and donated to the Cistercians from Lehnin (in Brandenburg) by its owner, Knight Mikołaj Bronisz, Wieniawa coat of arms. In the 18th Century, the monastery was rebuilt in Baroque and Rococo style. The inside of the church has plenty of valuable historic items, but take a look at the Baroque altarpiece from the turn of the 17th and 18th Century with a painting depicting the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and the Baroque organ front from mid-18th Century. In the southern chapel you will find the painting of Our Lady of Paradyż, which is particularly revered by the locals. The monastery facilities adjacent to the church were adapted for a museum which exhibits various memorabilia of the Cistercian monks, including old prints from the 17th and 18th Century. The monastery also serves as the Higher Theological Seminary of the Diocese of Zielona Góra and Gorzów Wielkopolski. Every year, the monastery hosts a Baroque music festival called “Muzyka w raju” (Music in Paradise).
