The first mention of a wooden church here dates back to 1404. In 1524, the temple was taken over by Protestants, but eventually returned to Roman Catholics as a result of the Thirty Years’ War. In 1604, a new brick church was built on the site of the wooden temple by Melchior von Rechenberg, who was the owner of Sława since 1587. The most valuable historic items in the church include the pulpit from the beginning of the 17th century and a Late Gothic stonework masterpiece - the Late Gothic 16th century sculpture of Pensive Christ.
