Monument of the insurgents from the Greater Poland uprising

Address Plac Wolności, 64-360 Zbąszyń
The memory of the Greater Poland insurgents who had spilled their blood fighting for the town to remain Polish, was honoured by a monument uncovered on 1 June 1924 in Wolności square. The obelisk was torn down by the Nazis who captured the town in 1939, and in 1968 the decision was made to erect a new monument, which was eventually uncovered on the site of the old one. The monument was designed and sculpted by the Poznan-based artists Ryszard Skupień and Jerzy Sobociński. In November 2017, the obelisk was renovated and painted grey.
