The first wooden church, built in the first half of the 14th Century, was destroyed and reconstructed multiple times. In the 18th Century, the current masonry temple was constructed. In 2001, Pope John Paul II granted the church the status of basilica. The two towers overlooking Rokitno welcome all pilgrims who arrive here seeking the sanctuary’s greatest treasure - the miraculous image of Our Lady of Rokitno (the Polish name translates into Our Lady Patiently Listening), and to listed to the stories of people whose pleas have been heard by Our Lady of Rokitno and who have been granted her grace.
