The Gothic stone and brick walls were built in the first half of the 14th Century on the site of older timber and mound fortifications. Only a section of the walls and the half-shell tower, commonly known as the “crow’s nest”, have survived to this day. In the wall, you can see the original embrasures, and the tower still has the original brick stairwell.
