The first mention of the parish church date back to 1324. The Romanesque church was built as a 3-nave basilica. After the devastation of the earthquakes in the 14th Century, the church was demolished and a new Gothic temple was built on the same site. The church was almost completely destroyed during World War II; after the war, despite the efforts of the town’s authorities, the church was not reconstructed and in the 1970s was secured as permanent ruin, evoking as much admiration, as it does fear. You can climb up the church steeple, which is open to visitors and offers a magnificent view of Gubin and its German twin town Guben. Thanks to the efforts of the Gubin and Guben history enthusiasts, the reconstruction of the church has finally begun.
