Regional Museum in Świebodzin
The exhibition of the Regional Museum is displayed in 6 rooms on the ground floor of the historic Town Hall. The Town Hall itself, combining Renaissance and Gothic Revival styles, dates back to the 15th Century (the cellars have retained their original Gothic style). In 1541, after a fire ravaged the town, the Town Hall was rebuilt in German Renaissance style inspired by Late Gothic. Hence the ornamental stellar and diamond vaults in some of the museum halls. The most valuable collections of the museum include the cartography of the Lower Silesia, paintings by local artists from the first half of the 20th Century, old postal cards, Gothic and Mannerist sculptures, Polish and German coins, paintings and graphic works by the local artists, and archaeological and natural finds from the region.
