The castle was built in 1435 by Wentzel von Biberstein. In the 18th Century, it was repurposed as a grain warehouse, removing many of its original features. According to the local citizens, the vault and some of the walls of the castle collapsed at the beginning of the 1990s. The castle is now privately owned but due to its remote location, the owner is not using it in any way.
