The statue was erected in 2013 on the courtyard of the primary school named after Bernard Chrzanowski. Born in Wojnowice, Bernard Chrzanowski was the founder and chairman of the Poznań Tourist Society, actively opposed the germanisation efforts, served as the undersecretary of state for education, science and culture in the Ministry for the Former Prussian Partition. In the years 1935-38, he was elected to the Senate of the Republic of Poland.
