The first fortifications in Krępcewo by the Ina River were built after 1305 by the mighty Wedel family. It was probably a wooden-earth construction. In 1338 it was destroyed by the army of Duke Barnim III. Around the middle of the 14th century, on the site of the destroyed fortifications the Wedel family erected a brick castle on a nearly square plan with the 30 m long side of the square. The entrance was situated in the southwest wall and protruded beyond the wall face. The residential building was on the opposite side. In the northwest corner there was a tower fortifying the entrance and the whole construction was surrounded by an earthwork which protruded by around 20 m beyond the walls. In the 15th century the neglected castle started to fall into ruin and around 1500 it was abandoned. Some parts of the walls of the ground floor remained, as well as the tower walls.
