Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church
Address |
Warnice 58, 74-201 Warnice |
The church in Warnice was funded in 1490 by a property owner, Günter von Billerbeck, and the construction of the church was finished at the beginning of the 16th century. During a renovation in the 19th century the window openings were changed, crenellation was rebuilt and two new roofs were mounted: a gable roof on the nave and a hipped roof on the tower. Additionally, the windows were decorated with traceries. The interior of the church is a singe room. There is a flat larch ceiling and a contemporary larch music gallery on the northern wall, based on 2 posts. During the Second World War the church was damaged and after the war it was destroyed and robbed. Only the ruins remained. In 1974-76 the church was reconstructed on the initiative of a priest Czesław Sampławski and the parishioners. The building was mostly restored to its original form, which deserved the preservationist's approval. The church was consecrated as a parish church on 19 December 1976.
