In the years 1901-1905, the building, which today serves as a Further Education Centre, was the headquarters of the 3rd Battalion of the German 58th Infantry Regiment. The commanding officer of one of the Battalion's companies was Captain Paul von Hindenburg who would go on to become the President of the Weimar Republic and would designate Adolf Hitler as Chancellor. Even after World War II, von Hindenburg’s statue used to stand where the bull statue is today, at the road to Osowa Sień.
