The settlement in Korytowo at Lake Korytowskie is a valuable example of Late Medieval fortification, mostly due to the fact that its original form has survived mostly unchanged. The beginnings of the Korytowo fort date back to the Knights Hospitaller who established a commandry there in 1237 but later lost the property to the Wedel family.
