1.2 km to the north west of Chełm Dolny, you can see a system of 18 artillery trenches. Each trench is roughly U-shaped with the distance between the two arms of the trench reaching 20 m. The trenches have firing positions in the front. The troops were protected by 1.5-m high earth mounds which were additionally encompassed by a moat which additionally increased the height of the mounds to 2-2.5 m.
