The Protestant cemetery in Giżyno was founded in late 19th century. In the cemetery, there is a partially ruined mausoleum of the von Borcke family, a wealthy Pomeranian house of Slavic origins. The oldest mentions of the family date back to the 12th century. It is believed that the founder of the house was Knight Borko I.
