Grodzisko (fortified settlement) in Wicina was founded by the Lusatian culture in early Iron Age, between 700 and 450 BC. The fortification relics count among the most valuable archaeological features on the territory of Poland. The settlement is a priceless cultural heritage not only for Poland, but for the entire Europe. There are only 70 prehistoric settlements from late Bronze Age and early Iron Age in Poland, which highlights the rarity and importance of the fortified settlement in Wicina. The current ruins of the settlement have undergone significant changes due to natural processes and agricultural activity. The settlement has 22,000 square metres and the circumference of its defensive mounds is 541 metres. Shaped as a slightly triangular oval, its dimensions are 176 x 172.5 metres. In order to protect the site, in 2013, the Grodzisko Culture Park was established.
